As a mother and artist, I felt to by the collective emotion of grief and sadness over the sudden departure of Kobe Bryant, one of the most beloved sports stars. I started painting as soon as I heard the news on Sunday, February 26th, 2020. Two weeks later, this portrait emerged. Watch the painting process of Kobe Bryant Portrait in this YouTube video. Also, see progress photos in my Kobe Bryant Art Tribute article.

I’ve never seen so much art created by artists worldwide in record time! Within Hours of NBA Star Kobe Bryant’s Death, Street Artists Around the World Began Painting Tribute Murals.  One literally sprung up overnight in Laguna Beach!  Dozens of artists were inspired to create a Kobe Bryant Tribute Paintings.   Unlike other Celebrity Portrait painters, I’ve decided to follow the longer traditional painting approach. Using many layers to create a desired three dimensional effect, often with small brushstrokes of complementary colors.
