Jimi Hendrix (1942 – 1970) was an American rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter, who is still one of the most celebrated music icons. Having lived in Seattle briefly, Tatyana tapped into the creative energy of this great city and witnessed the legacy Hendrix left in the hearts of all music lovers. This portrait is a tribute to Jimi Hendrix’ contribution to the world of music and admiration for his passion and genius. “I was inspired to paint the portrait of this great musician after learning that Jimi Hendrix lived in Laguna Beach for a short time, I definitely felt a resurgence of creativity. I wanted to capture his expression when he sang his famous, Excuse me, while I kiss the sky“.
This large scale 4 x 4 foot oil painting features royal violet and gold, suited for this King of the Electric Guitar! Jimi’s face looks wise beyond his age, introspective and dreamy. Although known for his shyness, his expression is confident and somewhat profound. The background dazzles with Hendrix signature performance, raptured by his guitar. What is interesting about this piece is the artist’s use of various natural materials and precious gemstones to create stunning texture and light effects. To simulate musician’s uneven complexion, the artist incorporated coffee, tobacco and hemp to create realistic skin texture. Richly embellished with Swarovski crystals, numerous genuine faceted diamonds, rubies and gold leaf, this painting excites and dazzles even in the dark.
Jimi Hendrix was an American rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Although his mainstream career spanned only four years, he is widely regarded as one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music, and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century.
Widely recognized as one of the most creative and influential musicians of the 20th century, Jimi Hendrix pioneered the explosive possibilities of the electric guitar. Hendrix’s innovative style of combining fuzz, feedback and controlled distortion created a new musical form. Because he was unable to read or write music, it is nothing short of remarkable that Jimi Hendrix’s meteoric rise in the music took place in just four short years.
Tatyana’s creative process is fluid and intuitive, up until the last moment, everything could change. She works methodically, but passionately, not settling until it feels perfect, some paintings taking years to complete. A prolific painter, similar to her master teachers, Tatyana has many paintings in progress, waiting for the inspiration to progress to the next step. She uses quality professional oil paints, like Gamblin, Winsor & Newton and Da Vinci and favors Fredrix linen canvas.
Tatyana uses the Old Master’s techniques she’s learned while making replicas at the National Gallery of Art, giving her large scale oil paintings luminosity and depth of color.
Tatyana uses various natural materials and precious gemstones in her oil paintings to create stunning texture and light effects.
