Inspiration behind Painting

I see this beautiful bug as a living art, painted by God. It’s iridescent colors are mesmerizing and leave me in awe of nature.

Chrysiridia rhipheus, the Madagascan sunset moth, is a species of day-flying moth. It is considered one of the most impressive and splendid among butterfly and moth species. Interestingly, the iridescent parts of the wings do not have pigment; rather the colors originate from optical interference. This beautiful large moth has a wingspan up to 3.5 inches. Madagascan Sunset moths are native to Madagascar. With such psychedelic display, no wonder that the silk spun by these moths cause a euphoric high when eaten. And now you don’ have to go to Madagascar and eat its silk to get happy, you can buy your own butterfly painting.

Interestingly, the native people from Madagascar call it adriandolo or lolonandriana, from lolo for “spirit” or “butterfly” and andriana for “noble” or “king”. Therefore,  meaning noble butterfly, noble spirit, king butterfly or king spirit.
